Peter is founder of The Presence Project, a contemporary dance ensemble for those aged 16 to 21. He is a believer in the ability of Dance to unify, inspire and change lives. As choreographer, his work actively encourages a personal, passionate and experimental approach to dancing. An advocate of synergistic collaborations between dance and disciplines such as art and music, his creative methodology is based on the belief that dance should be learned and performed in a positive and energetic environment with the confluence of personal movement, emotion, group dynamics and music. This environment has enabled him to challenge his dancers while inspiring them to enjoy boldly moving. Peter’s body of work for theatres, sports arenas and national events has moved between spectacle and interdisciplinary art. Versatile and an educator at heart, Peter has led performance projects, seminars and workshops for both professional dancers and dance students in Singapore and abroad.
In Singapore, Peter has presented lectures or dance work under the Ministry of Education, National Institute of Education, LASALLE College of the Arts, Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, M1 CONTACT Contemporary Dance Festival and more. He has also guest taught in programmes by professional dance companies. At the inaugural International Ballet Grand Prix Singapore (2019), he was conference moderator and speaker.
Internationally, Peter has presented dance in Hong Kong, Taiwan, New Zealand, London, Canada, Seoul, United States and Melbourne. He recently spoke and staged works at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, World Dance Alliance Global Dance Summit (Canada), Victorian College of the Arts (Melbourne), the Australian Youth Dance Festival and the World Dance Alliance Asia Pacific Conference (Taiwan), to name a few.
Peter holds a PhD in Dance from the Victorian College of the Arts (University of Melbourne), an MA in Dance Studies (University of Roehampton) and MA in Choreography (Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance). Beyond Dance, Peter also holds an MPhil in Philosophy (Murdoch University).
