Born in Kiev, Yuri started his ballet training in Vaganova Ballet Academy and graduated from the Bolshoi Ballet Academy in 1994 with distinction.  As a Principal Soloist he worked with such ballet companies as Russian State Ballet, Moscow Classical Ballet, Philippines Ballet Theatre, Ballet Israel, Ballet of the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma.  His repertoire included lead roles in ballets Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, Giselle, The Nutcracker, Don Quixote, Spartacus, Raymonda, Paquita, Les Silphides, Carmen and others.  In 2009, Yuri graduated with distinction from the Bolshoi Ballet Academy with diploma of a ballet teacher and choreographer.  He is also giving ballet master classes worldwide.

In 2011, Yuri became the Artistic Director of the Kremlin Gala, Ballet Stars of the XXI Century, which included ballet superstars Vladimir Malakhov, Diana Vishneva, Svetlana Lunkina, Mathieu Ganio, Alina Cojocaru, Johan Kobborg, Natalia Osipova, Ivan Vasiliev, Daniil Simkin and other great artists.

Yuri is a member of the jury on the International Ballet Competitions: Citta di Rieti (Italy), Asian Grand Prix, World Ballet Grand Prix.  He is a gala program director of the Canada All Star Ballet Gala from 2016.  Yuri was appointed Artistic Director of the Moscow State Ballet in 2016.  Since 2017, he has been the chief Choreographer of the Chelyabinsk State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre where he has staged two-act ballets including Paquita in 2017 and Doctor Dolittle in 2018.

Yuri is an award-winning artist: gold medalist in the International Ballet Competition Cotta di Rieti, Italy 2003; gold medalist as a choreographer in Russian Ballet Competition, Krasnodar, Russia 2004; Special Prize The Best Partner; Grigorovich International Ballet Competition Young Ballet of the World, Sochi, Russia 2008; Special Prize for The Best Contemporary Choreography; and Grigorovich International Ballet Competition Young Ballet of the World, Sochi, Russia 2014, 2016.
